On Saturday, June 26, a listening session was held by the local Raleigh chapter of the CAS. Seven CAS members attended the session. Members were treated to a variety of music played on a system built around a Linkwitz LX521 open baffle design speaker. Linkwitz are a four-way design with multiple amplifiers for the various drivers.
Music for the session was curated from Qobuz which sounded very clean and clear. All throughout the session, interesting discussions were held regarding equipment choices, how they interact with each other and the process by which the equipment build was undertaken. Everyone agreed the speaker’s bass response was remarkable and overall, the sonics were excellent.
Members also discussed holding a large event for the audio society as a whole and bring in manufacturers to showcase their equipment. This was seen as a worthwhile event to plan for a future date.
Overall, the June 26 listening session in Raleigh was a rousing success. These sessions are another method of enjoying the high performance hobby, a different path than simply, and singularly, listening to a song. They reinforce the opportunity for audiophiles to meet, discuss the hobby and listen to good music stunningly played on a home-based audio system.
The CAS thanks “John,” our host, for hosting the June 26 session. Our next listening session is scheduled for July 17 in Charlotte.

Anybody catch some pictures?
You know the old saying “Didn’t happen if no pics”.
(Actually would love just to see the system you got to hear).
